This Privacy Policy applies to the various services provided by Silex Labs Foundation, including our SaaS platform Silex v3 and associated services (collectively, "Services") accessed via the following domains:

2. Use of information

The information we collect is used to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Services
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our Services
  • Understand and analyze how you use our Services
  • Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
  • Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes

Silex offers multiple options for managing file storage and site publication. Depending on your preferences and setup, you can choose among the following:

  1. GitLab integration — By default, Silex can integrate with GitLab for managing user accounts and file storage. When you register on Silex, you can choose to link an existing GitLab account or create a new one. Silex accesses this account via OAuth to save and manage the files you create within the editor.

    • The OAuth authorization grants the minimum permissions necessary for Silex to operate effectively.
    • Your GitLab account is separate from Silex and is governed by GitLab's Privacy Policy.
    • To delete or manage your GitLab account, you must do so directly through GitLab.
  2. FTP option — Alternatively, you can choose to use an FTP server for file storage. In this case, your FTP credentials are stored exclusively in a cookie on your local device and are not transmitted to or stored on Silex's servers.

    • These credentials allow Silex to connect to your FTP server while you are using the editor.
    • It is your responsibility to manage and protect these credentials on your device.
  3. Local usage — Silex can also be run locally on your machine, allowing you to store your files directly on your device without using any third-party services. In this setup, Silex does not collect or store your data.

  4. Custom integrations — Advanced users and developers can create custom integrations with other storage or publication services. In these cases, the handling of your data depends on the custom configuration you implement, and Silex does not store or manage any credentials for such integrations.

For more details, please refer to our documentation or community channels.

4. Data retention

We retain your personal data, such as your email address and usage history, for as long as your account is active. If your account becomes inactive for an extended period (e.g., one year of no usage), we will delete your personal data from Silex. However, this does not affect your GitLab account, which will remain active unless you manage it directly on GitLab.

Before deleting your data, we will notify you via email and you may receive onboarding emails again if you return to Silex later.

5. Your rights

You have full control over whether you receive newsletters or other non-essential communications from Silex. During account registration, you can choose to opt in or out of these communications. You can also update your preferences at any time from the login screen.

If you wish to stop receiving non-essential communications, you must uncheck the relevant boxes on the login screen. Alternatively, you can request the deletion of your account and associated data here.

Please note that essential communications related to the service (such as onboarding, account notifications, or updates to our terms) are sent regardless of your preferences, as they are necessary to provide you with the Silex service.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated.

7. Contact

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this privacy policy, our practices, or our Services, contact us at contact+legal@silex.me.
